Tue 10/25/2005 9:03 PM When my sister Donna and her husband Tom told me the news, Donna had stage Four Breast Cancer I was in shock. Like the rest of my family it was more than heart felt. It was tragic and life altering for me as a sister. I remember very clearly feeling protective and thinking that very day, how can this news be shared with others while all these feelings and emotions were going on in our heads and hearts. Although my wonderful brother-in-law Tom took the bull by the horn and started calling Donna's close friends to relieve Donna of the emotional duty to do it herself (she has many friends and all are very important to my sister) we needed a system. Caring-Connections has really given not only my sister Donna a way to communicate to us, her family and friends during her battle with cancer. It also was a system that created privacy for Donna, her family and for people like me, her sister and care-taker when Tom was not available. It has made the emotional journey a little easier for me and has really opened up a helping informational center for others who have "heard about the site" and are fighting cancer themselves. What a wonderful way to connect! My sister said it best when she said "People need People" the Internet is a great gift for families who are going through similar situations. I believe it has helped in her fight by providing her with support every step of the way. It's like someone holding your hand during the journey in a very private yet continuous way! Like foot prints in the sand ~~~ Chari Schillerstrom |

08/24/05 It was not out of the lack of concern, but not really knowing when it was a "good" time to call.....will they be feeling ok to talk now??? What if they're not home and I'll have to leave a message... Never really knowing what to say but wanting to let them know you love them and you're thinking of them and anything they need...you will be there. Donna's website has given that to me...it's given me the "OK" to write when I can, to send a funny picture or just to let her know I'm here for her...always ! I want to thank you for that Donna....what a wonderful gift you have given us all. Your website gives me the strength I need to be strong for you !!!!! We love you and know the support you receive everyday makes you that much stronger . Love Lisa H |
